We are proud to partner with TreeApp, a leading global tree planting organisation operating sites across the world. With a dedication to reforest our planet, their work spans across 4 continents, having reforestation projects across 15+ countries with a specific focus on countries where they're most needed.
We are reducing our carbon footprint and we are also offsetting the waste we create during the construction phase of our projects. The UK government has set a goal to become a carbon neutral economy by 2050 and we feel it is important to do our bit to help to achieve this.
Our industry consumes 40% of the world’s usage of raw stones, gravel and sand, as well as 25% of the world’s virgin wood annually. What does this all mean? In short, construction companies are big contributors to climate change. At Hawksmoor, we think its time to something about it. We believe it is part of our Social Responsibility as a company too replenish the earth with the resources we are using - this is the reasoning behind our partnership with TreeApp - we promise to plant a certain number of trees on a monthly basis.
Forests cover over 30% of the land area on our planet. The tropical primary forest loss in 2022 totalled at 4.1 Million Hectares - the equivalent of losing 11 football fields of forest per minute. All of this global forest loss produced 2.7 gigatonnes (Gt) of carbon dioxide emissions, equivalent to India's annual fossil fuel emissions.
So, why plant for the planet?
• Planting trees is an effective way to offset carbon emissions
• It improves our natural environment
• It reduces the carbon footprint of our projects
• It means that we contribute to meeting the UK’s emissions reduction targets
• It works towards eliminating our environmental impact
